I did it!

30

Time for my personal pat on the back, I did it!  I excitedly took the BlogHer pledge to write for 30 days for National Blog Posting Month and I have written for 30 days with only one day that I had nothing, The Nothing Post.

It was a challenge I took for myself after attending the BlogHer conference this summer.  I felt if I was to be a blogger I needed to participate.

I have taken on different topics each day, different then how I originally started with this blog.  I didn’t just write about adoption or menopause.  I wrote about things that happen in my life and I liked it!

I am happy with myself for participating.  Something else that came from NaBloPoMo, I found other bloggers and read their blogs and ones I will continue to follow.

So happy 30th post to me! to read the many other bloggers participating, click #NaBloPoMo,  and enjoy everyone’s final post!

Mommies don’t get sick

download

Well I’m here to whine to you today that they do and I do … that picture pretty much sums up the way I’ve been feeling over the last few days.  Yep I was the next in our house to get the head cold….aaaah aaaah choo!

But you see I don’t really get sick days at least not when it’s just a cold.  Not the lay in bed all day in my pjs kinda day; girls still have to get to and from school (thankfully my husband can lend a hand with drop off at school) and they have to get to and from ballet.  I was able to call out to both teachers that I didn’t think it best that I bring my fresh germs in to the classroom (even though I’m sure that’s where I got the germs in the first place LOL!).

I’ve asked my girls to be at their best behavior so my aching head doesn’t have to scold or referee their fighting.  Did they listen, well not exactly. Thankfully I have some quiet time while they are in school and time to focus on some of the projects I am working on.  Then in the evening its homework, snack and some play time for them alone or with each other BUT it must be quiet so I can continue to rest.  Then I have to make dinner and the cycle continues till I’m well.

It’s not that often that I get sick, usually this time of the year is when I seem the most susceptible to colds and flu but my tolerance builds and throughout the rest of the year I am my usual Mom Super Self!

As you see I don’t really get a sick day so here I sniffle and sneeze and whine about my day … thanks for listening!

I’ve made it to day 18 of National Blog Posting Month, please click #NaBloPoMo to read the many other bloggers participating in this event, Enjoy!

Coffee date?

ad9dc313fd7f49e871c23139d64773ed

coffee date? A large coffee company with many shops is offering for a limited time “buy any holiday drink & get one free for a friend.”  (this is not an ad) Things that make you go hmmmmm?!

I am a one cup of coffee a day morning drinker, until I see the large coffee company shops and there happens to be one of these coffee shops right across the street from our girls’ ballet school.  When our girls started to dance there it became a regular treat before class and sometime after.  It became so regular that when their Dad helped out to take them to class they told him it was a must have for them!  And the clincher that made him think we go too often was that my younger daughter can even order my coffee for me LOL!

Now I’ve tried to cut back as the costs add up quickly.  Yes once or twice I treated myself to the wonderful fall pumpkin spice and am looking forward to the treat of an eggnog latte!  I’ve stopped the regular pop in and now it truly only is a special treat.

To keep my fix of pumpkin spice going I found a k-cup coffee with pumpkin spice that I can have each and every morning.  Because I cannot start my day without a cup of coffee.  I hope to find something similar with another holiday type of flavor.

Now that I’ve seen the advertisement though and there is a special, do I sneak over while my girls are at dance with one of my Mom friends? or do I take them in with me? Something to ponder to get a special coffee and a treat!

Bottoms up, it’s coffee time not that I can’t stop myself LOL!

Time

The definition of Time from the free Merriam-Webster online dictionary:

time

noun \ˈtīm\

: the thing that is measured as seconds, minutes, hours, days, years, etc.

: a particular minute or hour shown by a clock

: the time in a particular area or part of the world

In my opinion for my life, I feel time is flying by no matter how you define it. Either clock time, calendar time or time followed in milestones as my girls grow.

I look at the calendar and see that it is already November 5.  Yes November!  Where did the early part of our year go?  I know truly our days are filled with school, ballet, soccer, girl scouts, holidays, homework, play dates, family vacations and so much more!  I just see it all going by and fast!

Wasn’t it just yesterday when I made the move to California? It was only May 1994, it couldn’t have been that long ago.  I know we tracked our girls milestones as babies monthly on how they were growing and the things they were accomplishing at those ages.  Now that they are 8 and 6 years old it’s no longer monthly but more a year at a glance that we think back to where they are and how they’ve come to reach that milestone.

I don’t remember time ticking away so quickly when I was younger when I was a student in school partaking in my girl activities.  Why as an adult does it feel to go by so much more quickly?

Each day may have moments that we need to remember, moments that pass and sometimes a day may feel long but then there are times that it feels fleeting that it has gone by too fast.  I realize you cannot stop time, but maybe just slow it down a bit.  I see with time how all of our relationships through family and friends have changed and grown.  I see for our girls how they have developed family and friend relationships on their own.  I see glimpses of the women they will be with the empathy, compassion and love they show for those in their lives.  I see time has a way of going by for the good too.
